Recipe: Strawberry Carrot Smoothie

I hate grocery shopping. The people, the lines, the parking lot. No. Thank. You. Thankfully, I have an awesome husband who treks to Whole Foods every weekend on our behalf. The only time I will go to the grocery store is on Friday or Saturday evening, when all the normal people are out at fancy parties or shaking off the week at a bar, when it is empty and I have the place to myself. To me, that is heaven. Wandering the aisles, letting myself be inspired by what looks fresh and yummy. That’s how this recipe came about. It was the carrot juice that caught my eye. And then the Hemp Hearts. The rest is history and a smoothie is born!

Domestocrat’s Strawberry Carrot Smoothie (makes 1 smoothie)
4 strawberries
1/4 cup greek yogurt
1 tbsp. Hemp Hearts
1/3 cup carrot juice
1/3 cup almond milk
3 ice cubes

Wash, trim, and slice up the strawberries. Add them to a medium sized (12 oz.) mason jar. Top with the yogurt and Hemp Hearts.

Add the milk, juice, and ice on top. A mason jar will fit perfectly on your blender with the blender blade attachment. Simply screw it on to the bottom of the jar exactly how you would with the full sized blender container. It couldn’t be simpler.

Blend until the mixture is smooth. Drink immediately with a fun straw and some extra Hemp Hearts sprinkled on the top.
