About Me

At The Bean in Chicago

I’m a 30-something lady who enjoys photography, cooking, road trips, football, long drives with the windows down, hot yoga, kettlecorn, cheesy pop punk music, my cat Reggie, and my home: Boston.

My blog focuses on the adventure that is life – travel, marriage, health, recipes, home ownership, photography, and DIY/crafts. I write from the heart and try to impart a little wisdom along the way. I don’t know much about SEO or Google Analytics, I don’t have the flashiest design, my photography skills are fledgling at best. I’ve felt the pressure of the blogosphere; in the past I tried to churn out premium content on a schedule and lost my passion along the way. Its just not me and I’m ok with that. I don’t do ads or sponsored posts. I write about things that excite me and inspire me. I know you’ll be able to tell if I’m not passionate about what I’m saying here, and that matters to me. Blogging is personal and I write because I love to write. That said, I really appreciate you being here and hope you like what you read.

  4. Your seeded sourdough boule certainly caught my eye!! I will be trying my hand at bread making for the first time next week and your recipe will be the maiden voyage. :) Wish me luck!

  5. I absolutely love your blog. My husband and I are taking our honeymoon to Portland, Oregon in March! Your blog has been very helpful as we are planning our trip (we have very similar interests). Is there anything you would say we MUST do when we are there? Thanks so much!

    1. You’re so sweet – thank you!

Here are all my Yelp reviews for Portland, it will be a good place to start:

You have to go to VooDoo Donuts, The Observatory, Deschutes Brewpub, The Big Egg food truck for breakfast, The Grotto, Powell’s, and a side trip to Multnomah Falls if you have a car. The Rogue brewery we went to was actually the distillery – my advice on that is to skip the tour and just side up to the bar and get their sampler. The Yelp reviews should help with recommendations specific to your interests though. Good luck and keep me posted!

  6. I stumbled across here by accident and it didn’t take me more than a couple minutes to fall in love with your blog! I like your photographs and writing style! Greetings from the other side of the world! :)

  7. fabulous review on your Alaska cruise… the wife and I are celebrating 25 years with an Alaska cruise and a week in Seattle next May.
