I’m so sad about the passing of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. I will always remember the perfection of him as Lester Bangs in Almost Famous delivering one of my all-time favorite quotes: “The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what we share with someone else when we’re uncool.” So true, watch here.

The closest-to-us supernova since 1987 just happened and it’s a huge deal for space research and exploration. Well, it happened almost 12 million years ago but we’re just seeing it now. This is the type of event that astronomers use to study the expansion of the Universe and that is an exciting thing!
