On a recent trip to Trader Joe’s I noticed something new on the shelf: Cocoa Almond Spread. Also known as Nutella or Addictive Deliciousness in a Jar, if you will.
If you’ve ever had Nutella this is basically what TJ’s Cocoa Almond Spread tastes like. Smooth, chocolately, creamy, vaguely nutty. However, where Nutella has a milky taste (because it’s made with skim milk), this stuff has an almondy/soymilk taste to it. Still wonderfully chocolately, however the undertone flavor is less hazelnut and more almond.
Healthy? Uh, no. But really dang yummy if you ask me.
At $3.99 a jar it’s probably worth a try if you’re a Nutella fan like me. And heck, if you’re looking for a recipe to use this up in I think it’d be a great swap in this ice cream recipe I made with Nutella.
