Simple Snack #5 – Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bites

Who doesn’t love chocolate and peanut butter? If that person exists, then keep them far away from me.

This simple snack is awesome. It’s easy, super tasty, well portioned, and good for both kids and adults alike. To make it you’ll need one banana, a few tablespoons of peanut butter, 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips, and a handful of toothpicks.

Slice the banana into an even number of pieces (mine yielded 15 1/3 in” slices). Take one banana slice and smear with peanut butter (up to you how much but don’t over stuff it!). Place another banana slice on top like a sandwich.

Repeat until the whole banana is used. Stick a toothpick in each one and place into a tupperware container.

In a microwave safe dish, nuke the dark chocolate chips for 30 seconds. Give the chips a stir, gauge how melty they are, and re-nuke if you need to (mine needed about 25 more seconds). Stir until the chips have melted and the chocolate is smooth.

Holding by the toothpick, dip each peanut butter/banana sandwich into the melted chocolate. Use a spoon or small spatula to make sure each gets completely coated with chocolate. Place back into the tupperware container and remove the toothpick.

Freeze for at least 3-4 hours and then enjoy!

Not only is this snack yummy and simple, it can also be changed in so many ways – swap almond butter for peanut butter, use white chocolate instead of dark chocolate, try strawberries instead of the banana. The possibilities are endless!

  1. I will be making these. Good idea! Lately I’ve just been cutting up a banana and mixing it with walnuts and dark chocolate chips and microwaving it for a few seconds so the chocolate starts to melt. It’s good, but this is much better for summer!
