We have a long, high window in our living room that I am constantly trying to dress up (most recent with sparkly pinecones). It’s too weird a shape to try and rig up a curtain on plus, it lets so much light in I have never wanted to cover it up. Still, it’s a pretty big empty space that needs some life.
I recently saw these adorable miniature wooden birdhouses at Michael’s that I fell in love with. They were the perfect size for the window and so customizable!
I picked up some craft acrylic paints at Blick and got to work!
Snacks and tunes are a must for any craft project.
I started by figuring out the best combinations within my color palette and drew out which house would be painted which colors.
Pro tip: The bottom of a plastic bottle makes the best paint tray.
I started painting with the lightest colors and then worked up to the dark colors – just to make sure I could cover up any potential mistakes.

Here are my little painted houses in the window. I love them! They add great color and brightness to this formerly naked spot in our house.
So cute! This line is also dead on, “Snacks and tunes are a must for any craft project.” :)
It’s true!!
They’re lovely! And I’m totally going to try the bottom of a bottle pallet trick. Brilliant!
Definitely do – it works perfectly!
Lovely I can’t wait to read more
Thank you!
