Recipe: Avocado Mango Lime Smoothie

I know what you’re thinking. I am not drinking an avocado in a smoothie. Listen when I tell you that the avocado is magic. Here’s why: you won’t taste it at all, it gives this smoothie the perfect silky texture, it is full of good fat and essential vitamins, and it pairs beautifully with the mango and lime. If you are at all adventurous, you must try this. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

Domestocrat’s Avocado Mango Lime Smoothie (makes 1 smoothie)
1/2 ripe avocado
1/2 cup frozen mango pieces
Fresh lime juice (1/2 lime, squeezed, works well)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 tbsp. non-fat plain greek yogurt
1 tbsp. protein powder
2 tsp. chia seeds
1 tsp. ground flax seed

Add all of the ingredients to a medium sized (12 oz.) mason jar. A mason jar will fit perfectly on your blender with the blender blade attachment. Simply screw it on to the bottom of the jar exactly how you would with the full sized blender container. It couldn’t be simpler.

This recipe is perfect to drink right after it’s blended or to make ahead for the next day. The mason jar is a handy way to have a delicious and nutritious smoothie when you’re on the go. I love making this the night before and having a stress-free breakfast waiting for me.
