Here’s The Monday Mix for this week! I tweaked the categories just a bit. To visit past mixes, click here.
With some leftover birthday money I splurged on a big King Arthur order last week. Check out my haul: 4 bags of Sir Lancelot flour (that’s 12 lbs. of high gluten goodness), pizza seasoning, and Vermont cheese powder. Keep your eyes peeled for recipes using my new goodies!
After recreating the impact of a hurricane in a two acre patch of mature oak forest, Harvard researchers monitored its health over 20 years – everything from soil chemistry to the density of leaves on the trees – revealing that leaving a damaged forest intact may be the best way for it to revive itself. This do nothing approach is pretty amazing. And timely since we’re all hunkered down inside today because of Hurricane Sandy.
Last week Apple announced the iPad Mini! It’s really cute but I have no idea why I would need it in addition to my iPad and iPhone. Still, as these things start to saturate my surroundings, I’ll probably find a reason why I have to have one.
Isn’t this project by Rougejin stunning? This would be a great thing to do to preserve the gorgeous foliage happening right now. I just love it.
I loved this article called There Will Never Be Anything Effortless About My Body by Emily over on xoJane.com. There’s nothing worse than a skinny girl telling you she never goes to the gym and she can eat whatever she wants. For the majority of us, it’s a lot of hard work. Let’s at least talk about it so we can be real that being happy and comfortable in your own skin isn’t easy. Like Emily said: “To deliberately obscure the work involved for the sake of fetishizing some sense of breezy apathy? That shit is downright harmful.” Loving your body is hard, big or small; putting the work in to love it should be recognized equally for women of every size.
