On our cross country road trip one of of favorite stops was Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. Coeur D’Alene is a small lakefront city with an adorable downtown, cute shops, great restaurants, gorgeous hotels, and lots to do outside near the lake. While window shopping downtown we came across this adorable little store called Mary Jane’s Farm. In it I found a wonderful local magazine filled with great recipes and lovely photography. I also saw in the same display something called Budget Mix. As I read the packaging I knew I had to buy this too.
Mary Jane Butters has been an organic farmer in Idaho her whole life. She now runs a farm school, magazine, B&B, and product line from her farm in Moscow, Idaho. Her mission is simple – living close to the earth, knowing where your food comes from, and building community around these values. She is incredibly fascinating and you can read more here.
Mary Jane’s Budget Mix is an all-purpose organic baking mix. Budget Mix comes from Mary Jane’s line of Project F.A.R.M.(First-class American Rural Made) products.
Ingredients: Organic Unbleached Wheat Flour, Barron Flour Mill Baking Powder (aluminum/gluten-free, made w/non-GMO organic rice starch), Sea Salt, and Baking Soda.
Budget Mix was created as an all purpose baking mix to save the time, money, and energy of the frugal farm women who wanted to feed their families wholesome, nutritious food.
The box I got includes 15 recipes and the magazine I bought has more too.
I can’t wait to start making recipes with it! I’m looking forward to making biscuits, bread, and pancakes the most.
