This weekend John and I got our summer garden started! Planting something (and hopefully not killing it) is part of my 30 Before 30 project and John has wanted a container garden for a long time.
On Sunday we went to Pemberton Farms which is a lovely local grocer/garden center. We bought a potted Roma tomato plant and a smaller garlic plant.
When we got home we found the best spot for our garden – the western corner of our front porch. It gets sun pretty much all day and the porch bars will keep out critters.
We had to repot the garlic plant into a bigger container so the roots could grow with lots of room. It took no time at all.
We added a wire cone to our tomato plant so the branches have something to grab on to. We lined up our plants, gave them all a good water, and said a prayer that they don’t die.
John spent the rest of the day obsessively checking on the plants like you would a newborn. Day 1 was a success though and I’ll keep posting with their progress.

Can’t wait to see those tomatoes!!
Oh me too!! I hope we don’t kill them.
Glad your comment worked :)
Awesome! Go plants, go!
Thanks!
