In August we embarked on Phase I of our front yard facelift. This included a liberal coat of weed killer and then removing all of the ruffage and small plants from the yard. Hey, we even found a dead bird! Sorry neighborhood dogs who loved to obsessively, and inexplicably, sniff our front yard, we removed it immediately.
Phase II happened between September and November: Bush Removal. These bushes were deep rooted and not responsive to the weed killer. It required John to hack both apart with a saw to get them up. We did one bush and, a few weeks later, the other. Here are some pictures between bushes:
Finally, in late November on an unseasonably warm day, we were able to remove the last bush and finally have a clear front yard!
The plan is to finish in the Spring when the weather is nicer. We hope to level the ground, maybe mulch, and set up some large potted plants. As you can see, our yard isn’t really a yard. We can’t do much with the space so it might as well look pretty. However if we let the wild greenery come up again, it’ll just be an insane eyesore like it was before.
What do you think? I’m really proud of our exterior home improvement project!
