Home Project: Office Couch/Guest Bed

On to our next home project – the office couch/guest bed!

The one we got was the IKEA Beddinge (frame, mattress, and cover). It was an epic trip to IKEA, I tweeted about it here.

John and I finished this project last week. It didn’t take that long to actually do, the delay was caused by the boxes all over the floor preventing us the necessary space to finish it.

The frame was a breeze to put together.

Until… Oh. Crap.

We painstakingly got the folding parts of the couch/bed all lined up on the frame.

This guy was no help.

Once the frame was completed we put the mattress on and got the hang of how the couch folds into a bed. It’s super easy actually – just a series of moving the frame, a few clicks, and you have a bed!

Here it is with the cover and accompanying pillows. Eventually I think we might get some funner pillows, these are kinda bland. But the cover is very comfy and soft. I might try to steam out the wrinkles though, lordy.

All in all, we’ve made good progress in the office/guest room!

There’s always more to do but every day we’re closer to fully functional.
