Birthday Weekend Trip: Washington, DC

So for my birthday I wanted to go up to Portland, ME for a night at our favorite B&B and a nice dinner. Our B&B was booked solid though. Sad face. A few hours after that discovery John tells me not to worry, that he’s booked us a whole mini-trip to DC for my birthday and it’s all taken care of. Alrighty then!

Cut to this past Saturday morning, we were up early and on a flight to DC!

First stop, a football game at Georgetown University. Our friend Doug is the defensive line coach and hooked us up with tickets.

The game was a great one to watch despite the fact that GU lost.

Next, we headed downtown DC for some sightseeing…

Here is one teaser of Julia Child’s Kitchen. I plan to write a whole separate blog on this amazing experience:

You couldn’t take pictures of the Star Spangled Banner itself. It was breathtaking though, we had goosebumps.

And C-3PO on the way out!

We strolled around the Washington Monument, National Mall, and Reflection Pool as the sun was going down:

After all that we headed to our hotel at 10PM and crashed.

In the morning we walked the 5 blocks from our hotel to the Capitol Building at dawn:

And then we were on a flight back to Boston. It was an awesome trip. Too fast though, I love DC and can’t wait to go back!
