It’s compact and fast, I really like it. There’s no zoom on this lens so it’s going to take me a while to get used to. I have to admit, even though I’ve read my SLR manual like 15 times cover to cover and took a photography class, there’s a lot I still need to learn. I found this site that explains lenses really well and it’s been a huge help.
First pictures with my new lens of my very favorite subject:
Little nail nibbler:
Does your cat nibble his nails like the Reggie beast?
I'm a lady who enjoys photography, football, cooking, long drives with the windows down, This American Life, kettlecorn, hot yoga, pop punk, my nephews, my cat Reggie, and my home: Boston.

That first pic of the cat really shows why this is a great portrait lens.
Truly! John said, and I quote, “he looks like the Prime Minister in that picture!!!!!” So we’ve been calling the cat Prime Minister for the last 12 hours….LOL
I love the nifty 50! Is it manual-only for you? Mine is because the motor isn’t inside of my camera but rather in the lenses. I LOVE mine though, you can get such amazing portaits with that camera, and I love how you can specify what you want to be focused. The pain in the ass part is moving back and forth to focus, and sometimes having to take multiple photos until you can tell you’ve got the EXACT shot/focus.
That and on my camera, it ends up being around 75mm instead of 50mm. One day I’ll get a new body but really there’s no reason so because the shots come out great… it’s more about the lenses anyway and that’s what I prefer spending my money on.

Nope, there’s an auto focus/manual focus switch!
The Prime Minister is glad to have our support.
