Labor Day Weekend Redux!

As I mentioned, Labor Day Weekend kicked off bright and early on Saturday morning with the first BC football game of the season!

We tailgated in style: cooking up tons of food, beers a plenty, playing numerous games of cornhole, and having a blast together. As game time got closer the boys decided to bring Mark Herzlich back proper and all donned his signature eye black.

Tailgating (before and after the game) and the game itself took up pretty much the entire day. On to Sunday!

John and I got on the road bright and early and headed out to Sturbridge, MA. We had a full day planned and the first stop was Old Sturbridge Village. It was really fun! The weather was gorgeous and we leisurely explored for a few hours. I highly recommend making the trip to OSV – it’s fun, informative, and interesting.

I loved the textile exhibits. Amazing skills these folks had.

We watched a hook making demonstration which was right next to the broom making demonstration.

Glass making display and a working printing press!

After we finished at OSV we were ready for lunch! I found BBQ place on Yelp, B.T.’s Smokehouse, with great reviews so we headed down the road to eat.

Once we were completely stuffed we drove over to the Hyland Orchard & Brewery to check out the Pioneer Brewing Company brewery tour. We were early so we hung out on the lawns until it was time for the tour. The grounds were so pretty and the weather could not have been more perfect.

After the tour we got to try a bunch of free samples. Yum!

After the brewery tour at Pioneer we headed to our final destination: Wells State Park for camping. It wasn’t just any kind of camping though, we camped in a yurt and it was awesome!

Inside of our yurt. It was so clean and the beds were pretty comfy, beats sleeping on the ground that’s for sure.

Nighttime at the yurt!

Before heading home on Monday we relaxed by the fire and took our time packing up.

We had an amazing weekend. It was so tough going back to work on Tuesday!

What did you do for the long weekend? Have you ever been to any of the places we went this weekend?
