Things I Love: Spring 2012 Nail Polish

At almost exactly this time last year I wrote a post on how pretty nail polish helps me beat the winter blues. Trivial? Yeah. But the fun new colors conjure springtime just when I need it. Not to mention a good manicure is a daily essential in my book.

I was at CVS the other day browsing the Spring 2012 polish collections and made a few purchases.

Don’t hate me but I bought a polish from the Kardashian Kolor line for Nicole by OPI. I try to avoid all things Kardashian but this color is really a beauty. It’s called Paprazzi Don’t Preach (oh yeah, they all have pithy names like that) and it’s this lovely peachy pink nude color. It goes on smoothly and looks really chic.

I also bought two glitter polishes from Essie’s new Luxeffects line called Set In Stones and A Cut Above. I know I’m almost 30 but this sparkly polish really made my day. Plus the glitter polish is really the perfect top coat: it stays put!

The glitter chunks in these are in many sizes so it’s really multidimensional.

And here’s how I wore them:

I jumped on the Paint-Your-Ring-Finger-A-Little-Fancy bandwagon and used Set In Stones over a dark matte red/purple as an accent. I thought I would hate this trend but I sort of love it now.

And then later in the week I used Paparazzi Don’t Preach and A Cut Above together for this week’s mani. Super pretty, feminine, and sparkly.

It’s all about little joys.

  1. Oh!! I have had my eye on that pinkish essie one for a few weeks now. I may have to bite the bullet this week! The Kardashian collection (Kollection??) colors are all really pretty too. Have you seen OPIs holland line yet?
