Now that I’ve adequately said goodbye to summer, I’ve become obsessed with Fall. Mostly Fall trends. So today, let’s talk about being on trend for Fall.
I’ve never been the type of person to go all out with seasonal decorating. I have always had a few nice wreaths, maybe a pumpkin, a stocking or two. But nothing crazy. I don’t believe in clutter, even if it’s festive.
I went to Crate & Barrel yesterday to look for placemats for our new dining room table. Despite wanting this set of white ones, I settled on these colorful, abstract confetti ones. Much more spill-proof, no? As I was browsing I found these adorable leaf coasters that matched the colors in the placements perfectly. They were too cute (and practical) not to buy. I feel like our table is so Fall festive now, especially with my DIY acorn centerpiece. Trendy, yet subtle, but not crazy.
(Oh, I also got this lovely bamboo bowl to put the remaining coasters in.)
In terms of being trendy fashion-wise, I’m sort of a delinquent. I buy classic pieces that work all year long (clothes, bags, makeup, shoes). However, as I was walking around the mall yesterday I felt the pull for some trendy Fall personal items.
The first was a big watch. I have no idea why I suddenly needed this, but I did. Maybe because every store and every kiosk had them prominently displayed. But I also just really needed an everyday watch that can be dressed up or down. I ended up at Macy’s and bought this beautiful cream-toned Guess watch. It’s a great size, the color is magical, and it’s really versatile.
The next thing I decided I needed was some Fall makeup. Because I am a MAC snob I started, and ended, there. I wound up getting the lovely Lady Grey eyeshadow quad and one of their new Pro Longwear Lipglasses (in Show Me!). These tones are perfect with my coloring and really nice for Fall, just dark enough with a little shimmer. The gloss is a little more nude than I usually wear but it totally works.
The last thing I bought were these amber and blue stud earrings from Anthropologie. I was really drawn to these hues together, something about the amber screamed Fall to me.
So that’s it – I’m good until next Fall!
