So Long Sweet Summer

IMG_2924Today is the first day of Fall. Goodbye cannonballs, campfires, corn on the cob. Goodbye summer. For now.

Overall it flew by. Sometimes I think that’s for the best; filling life up with the most important things so that passing time feels more like a continuation instead of a stop and start.

Summer had many highlights. For me, summer kicked off with our wedding in May. Our honeymoon was another huge moment. I made a lot of homemade ice cream. We cheered for our Boston Bruins at their Stanley Cup parade. We took day trips to our favorite New England towns, Portland and Portsmouth. We spent a weekend in Richmond to meet my newborn nephew. We celebrated John’s 29th birthday and Reggie’s 10th birthday. We had a few awesome Boston adventure days. We lived to tell about Hurricane Irene, bought not one but two new grills, and kicked off Fall right at the BC home opener game.

The biggest event of the summer though was the purchase of our first home and our move. And the subsequent dozens of home projects we’ve worked on since.

I hope you’ve enjoyed it all. I know I’ve loved sharing it with you.

Here’s to an amazing Autumn – cool nights, hoodies, apple picking, my birthday, soup making, bread baking, the first frost, mittens, scarves, great shows with my best friends, blankets, cat snuggling, and the warm colors of fall everywhere.
