Top 10 Songs For Lifting Weights

After the success of my Bride Arms Workout blog post I thought I’d make a little side entry about the tunes I rock while pumping iron.

Music is seriously what gets me through each workout and I have specific tastes depending on what type of activity I’m doing. For cardio I prefer high energy music but that’s another post entirely.

For lifting weights I like music with lots of noise, songs that slowly build up from start to finish, or something I can zone out to. Does that make sense? Basically I like songs that will just pulsate in my head along with my movements, not necessarily something that makes me want to sing and dance, just a steady beat with direction. So this list is pretty eclectic, it has no rhyme or reason other than it pumps me up.

So here are my top 10 songs to lift weights to. Enjoy!

Reminder – Jay Z (listen)
Gold, Guns, Girls – Metric (listen)
Did It On Em – Nicki Minaj (listen, NSFW)
Platinum Blonde Life – No Doubt (listen)
Don’t Rush – Tegan and Sara (listen)
Hang With Me – Robyn (listen)
The Reeling – Passion Pit (listen)
Coheed and Cambria – Here We Are Juggernaut (listen)
Katy Perry – Firework (listen)
Two Tongues – Crawl (listen)

2/8/2012 – UPDATE: I’ve made my Best Weight Lifting Songs playlist public on Spotify. You can access it here. I’ve been adding to it so there’s more than my top 10 on there now. Hope you like it!
