Looking Towards 2011

IMG_5669I don’t exactly believe in resolutions. I believe in goals (short and long term), and then periodically refocusing and refreshing those goals. I tend to shy away from really specific, line item type goals. As I get older I care more about themes of achievement and less about small bites of success.

So for 2011 my theme is holistic well being. My definition of this ranges broadly across many areas of my life (that’s what I mean by holistic) to intersect at a point of health and growth in all areas. Basically my goal is to have all of these things jive together to create an accomplished, happier, and more fulfilled me.

Physical and Emotional Health

For me this obviously means kicking butt in the gym, rehabbing my hip, losing this 30+ lbs. that have crept on, and hopefully, ultimately, running again in 2011. Emotional health is just as important with my specific focuses on being present, asking for help when I need it, and communicating my needs clearer.

Funny how one thing in life just totally takes over for like a year. I am not even living life beyond May 21, 2011. I freely admit that I’m planning and revolving around it right now. I am living for my wedding day, and am happy to do so. Though I’ll be happy to get back to reality with my husband once it’s over as well.

2010 was good to me. I make more than I deserve, don’t have any debt except school loans, and have managed to save a bunch. I’ve been extremely disciplined in saving for the wedding and not over spending in general. In 2011 I plan to put a significant amount of money on my loans, be more generous and philanthropic to causes I care about, and continue to spend wisely and save often.

Personal Interests – Having A Social Life, Blogging, and Photography

I feel like I’ve been socially dead for a little while. I really want to be better about this, go out more, go to IB and support John’s shows more, and have more gatherings at our house. I think I want to start a supper club. It would be challenging, great for the blog, and socially awesome.

I also want to keep my blog engaging and interesting, post on a variety of topics, and focus on healthier and cleaner recipes. I hope to beef up my photog skills to help me do that too. Maybe take a few more classes in 2011 and save for another lens.

All good things! What are your goals for 2011?
