Health update in a word: Bad.
Seemingly legitimate excuses: I have a labral tear, I’m scared of re-injuring myself, I don’t like anything but running (which I can’t do), work has been mega busy, the holidays are crazy, this time of year sucks, the wedding is taking up so much of my mind/time, I’ve been traveling, it’s too dark out, I’m tired, I don’t want to, I’ll do it tomorrow…
Illegitimate excuses: Everything above.
The truth: I’ve been lazy, lethargic, depressed, unmotivated, apathetic, scared, and just letting the weight creep on and on.
The necessary: Somehow snap back to the reality that this is bad and getting worse.
Recently: I’ve had enough of feeling like crap, of being lazy and not caring. My hip and back have been bothering me tremendously. I checked back in with my orthopedic doctor at Spaulding. She prescribed the following: start doing PT routine at home, start pilates immediately, get my thyroid levels re-checked, and report back in a month.
I have to do this. I need to have goals though because without them I’ll do nothing. Here’s my general guide for the next month:
General Weekly Goals
Don’t eat garbage, do weights 3x, do cardio on alternate days, do hip PT 4x, daily abs and push ups.
Week 1 (this week): Just start getting back into a routine that focuses on health and wellness. 25 sit ups, 20 push ups/day.
Week 2 (next week, holidays!): Find a pilates class for Tuesday or Wednesday. Limit sugar. 50 sit ups, 25 push ups/day.
Week 3 (following week, New Years): Find a pilates class for Tuesday or Thursday. No alcohol. 100 sit ups, 25 push ups/day.
Week 4: Find a pilates class for Tuesday or Thursday. Eat vegetarian for the entire week. 100 sit ups, 30 push ups/day.
