Things I Love: Spring Makeup

Last weekend my lovely friend and makeup partner in crime, Nicole, and I went on a full afternoon makeup shopping trip. We hit up Macy’s, Sephora, and Ulta and had major success. Check out my haul:

1. OPI Nail Polish in Cosmo-Not Tonight Honey // 2. Essie Nail Polish in Bahama Mama // 3. Zoya Nail Polish in Jacqueline // 4. Zoya Pixie Dust Nail Polish in Godiva // 5. Fresh Sugar Lip Balm in Rose // 6. NYX Eye Shadow Palette in Love in Florence // 7. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Sugar Frost // 8. Ulta Crease Brush // 9. MAC Paint Pot in Painterly // 10. MAC Eye Shadow in Star Violet

Despite loving makeup, I don’t buy a lot of it. I stick with daily staples – eyeshadow, mascara, lip gloss – and keep it simple. I am brand loyal (mostly to MAC) so even when I make purchases, they are usually things I have been buying for years. This trip was exciting because I got to check out so many different new things and go with a friend who is super knowledgeable about it all. Here are some thoughts on the specific things I bought…

You know that nail polish and a nice manicure are my jam. I’m super excited about these colors for Spring because they are really fresh and classy. I am loving this OPI polish I bought and can already tell I’ll be a repeat buyer.

Now that I’m going to the gym in the morning before work and getting ready for the day there too, I need to make sure that all of my toiletries and makeup travel well. I bought this NYX collection of shadows because I loved all of the colors, the palette is pretty diverse for day and night, and it’s really sturdy so I don’t need to worry about it in my bag (like some other, more delicate, eye makeup). Pretty, right?

I bought the MAC paint pot and shadow just to have something new and exciting to play with. And a new brush couldn’t hurt either, right?

I didn’t realize going into our trip how much I needed some fun, Springtime makeup. I totally believe that a little luxury goes a long way. And this little splurge has given me a burst of confidence as well as a fun way to change up my look for Spring.

This is one of my favorite posts! I had so much fun that day! I am planning on a similar one with some product reviews (will video mine). YAY! I love that polish on you. When I bought it way back when, the first thing I thought was “Kim color for sure!”.
