What exactly is a ‘major gifts officer’
A person who solicits large donations and grants for an organization, mostly non-profits.
ahhh – makes sense. I thought it had something to do with filling out a registry, which, although it would be an awesome career, I’m hoping is not a real job.

I know what you mean, but I suspect it’s useful in the situation where you’re throwing a majorly epic event and/or have more money than time.
Totally agreed. I have more time than money so it works in my situation.
Because not everyone wants to stress about flowers and catering? I personally would just hire someone if I had the money who would consult with me on what I wanted but would take care of all the details. It’s great that you like it, but I don’t think you should assume it’s something for everyone.
Oh I totally agree. I’m just commenting on the cost of the actual items PLUS the cost of hiring someone to figure it all out for you? I mean, now that I have a realistic notion of the price, doing both of those things seems like it would cost an astronomical mount of money. But hey, if you have the money to spend, go nuts!
